Week 7 Top Dogs & Down and Out Teams
By Josh Olson
Top Dogs
Carolina Panthers- A team that was in a spiral downfall and traded away one of their franchise players in Christian McCaffrey this week, hosted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where they pulled out the biggest upset when the panthers beat them 21-3. Started against Tom Brady was PJ Walker, who went 16 completions for 177 yards and two touchdowns. The Panther's duo of running backs, D’ Onta Foreman and Chuba Hubbard, rush wild on the Bucs. Foreman rushed six times for 118 yards and Hubbard rushed nine times for 63 yards and a touchdown. The DJ Moore of old showed up at this game when he caught seven targets for 69 yards and a touchdown. The Panther's defense kept Tom Brady and the Bucs' offence off the board. The Panthers hope to keep the momentum rolling when they travel to Atlanta to take on the falcons and possibly be tied for first place in the divisions.
Washington Commanders- The Washington Commanders kept the Green Bay Packer's losing streak rolling when they beat Aaron Rogers and the packers 23-21. Taylor Heinicke seized command of the offence when he threw for 201 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. Brian Robinson Jr. Rushed for 73 yards and Terry McLaurin had five catches for 73 yards and a touchdown. The Commander's defense got a pick off Rogers. The Washington Commanders travel to Indianapolis Colts in week 8.
Seattle Seahawks- Coming off a divisional win last week, the Seattle Seahawks travel to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers and they defeated them 37-23. Geno Smith keeps doing enough to get the Seahawks wins when he threw for 210 yards, two touchdowns and one pick but it was Kenneth Walker III who ran wild on the Charger's defense, carrying the ball twenty-three times for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Marquise Goodwin leads the Seahawks in receiving with four catches for sixty-seven yards and two touchdowns. The Seahawks’ defense caused Justin Herbert to throw a pick and force a fumble. The Seahawks host the New York Giants
Down and Out
Tampa Bay Buccaneers- This was Tom Brady's worst defeat as a starting quarterback in his career! Losing to a team that is in a rebuilding season, traded their franchise running back and started a quarterback that was good in the XFL. The Bucs lost to the Panthers 21-3. Brady and the offence couldn't get anything going. And the defense was missing all sorts of tackles and letting the Panthers run wild. Brady and the team hope to bounce back when they host the Baltimore Ravens.
Green Bay Packers- The Green Bay Packers are in a midst of a three-game losing streak, having lost to the Washington Commanders 23-21. Aaron Rogers only threw for 194 yards and two touchdowns. But his wide receivers let him down once again... Multiple drops by them. The growing pain of not having a trusted receiver to throw to is hurting this team and it doesn't get better when the Packers travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills in week 8.
San Francisco 49ers- This team is so hard to figure out... You trade for Christian McCaffrey to have a game-changer at running back for the first time that Kyle Shanahan has one since being the head coach of the 49ers. The players on the injury report, which was so long at the start of the week, dwindled to just a couple of names and the returning players didn't show up for the game! The offence looked bad, the defense looked slow and terrible! This team was not ready to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. It was just a hot mess. Kyle needs to figure out how to get his team ready because he's got the Los Angeles Rams to prepare for.
