NFL Season Award Prediction,
Plus one!
by Josh Olsen
Most Valuable Player
The most valuable player in my eyes by the end of the year will be the Buffalo Bills quarterback, Josh Allen. Last year he threw for 4,407 yards and 36 touchdowns. He lead his team to an 11-6 record and got them to the divisional round of the playoffs where he lost in overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs. Now he goes into the year with all the pressure of guiding his team to a Super Bowl. Look for him to put up huge stats while guiding the team through the season.
Defensive Player of the Year
Myles Garret is due to get him, the man has been a one-man wrecking crew since being drafted first overall in 2017. In last year's stats, he had 49 total tackles. Of those 49 tackles, he had 31 solo tackles. He had 16 sacks on the season. These stats are per NFL.com. Myles Garret is the heart and soul of Cleveland Brown's defense.
Offensive Player of the Year
This may come as a shocker but I think the offensive player of the year award will be going to Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers. He put up record numbers in the first couple of weeks and ended the season with 1405 yards per ESPN which is 5th in the league. He had 6 receiving touchdowns on the year also. But what makes him such an offensive weapon is that he also put up 365 rushing yards plus 8 rushing touchdowns. He's a swiss army knife on offence. He can do everything. He created a position called the “Y back.” Look for a full season of him playing the position and with the mastermind of Kyle Shanahan to put up huge numbers.
Comeback Player of theYear
I think this will finally be the year that Christian McCaffrey gets back into the top rusher race. Before he had a hard back-to-back lost season the past two seasons, he was the number one rusher in the league back in 2019 when he put up 1387 yards and 15 touchdowns. In the last two seasons, he's played 10 games out of 33.
Coach of the Year
This might be one of my hottest predictions but the coach of the year in my eyes will be Nick Sirianni. In his first year as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, he got them to a 9-8 record and a playoff berth in the wild-card round. He did it with a first-time starting quarterback that only had two legit throwing options in DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert. His offence was 14th ranked. His defense was ranked 18th. They added more weapons on offence in A.J. Brown and on defense in James Bradberry. Look for Sirianni to be looked at as a coach of the year candidate.
Offence Rookie of the Year
A lot of betting odds have this guy low on the list but I think by the end of the NFL season he will be your offence rookie of the year and that is George Pickens, wide receiver of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was drafted in round two of this past year's draft from Georgia. The kid is having a great offseason and training camp. Look for him to be 1B to Diontae Johnson 1A.
Defensive Rookie of the Year
I think you can’t overthink this one, the guy that was said to be the first overall pick in this past year's draft for a whole year. He didn’t go first but he did go second overall and he fell to the place where he would be most comfortable and that is Aidan Hutchinson. He is going to give the Lion's defense a much-needed pass rush that they haven't had since Robert Porcher, who last played in 2003.
Early Super Bowl Prediction
My final early prediction is who I think will represent the AFC and NFC and meet at the Super Bowl. In the AFC Championship game will be the Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens. Who I think will represent the AFC will be the Buffalo Bills. I think the two teams that will meet in the NFC Championship game will be the San Francisco 49ers and the New Orleans Saints. And I think the 49ers will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. Super Bowl will be Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills vs Trey Lance and the San Francisco 49ers. The winner of Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, Arizona will be... the Buffalo Bills.
