Week 11 Top Dogs & Down and Out Teams

Top Dogs

Detroit Lions- Don’t look now but the Detroit Lions are on a three-game winning streak! The Lions just beat the New York Giants 31-18, moving their record to 4-6. Jared Goff was 17-26 and threw for 165 yards. Not eye-opening stats but it was on the back of Jamaal Williams's seventeen carries for sixty-four yards and three touchdowns. Amon-ra St. Brown led all receivers with seven catches for seventy-six yards. The Detroit Lion's defense sacked Daniel Jones twice and also picked him off twice. The Lions look to keep the train rolling when they take on the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving in week 12.

Dallas Cowboys- After one week of being on the “down and out” list, the Dallas Cowboys rebounded and destroyed the Minnesota Vikings 40-3. Dak Prescott threw twenty-two completions for 276 yards and two touchdowns. Tony Pollard led the rushing attack with fifteen carries for eighty yards. He also led the team in receiving yards with six catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns. He was in beast mode all game! The Dallas Cowboys defense, led by Micah Parsons, sacked Kirk Cousin seven times. And shut down Justin Jefferson to three catches for thirty-three yards. The Dallas Cowboys hosts the New York Giants on Thanksgiving Day in week 12.

San Francisco 49ers- Some teams treat Mexico for fun and other teams treat it for business, the 49ers took care of the businesses of the Arizona Cardinals by defeating them 38-10! Jimmy Garoppolo threw twenty completions for 228 yards and four touchdowns. Elijah Mitchell rushed nine times for fifty-nine yards. Jimmy spread the ball around to four different receivers with George Kittle leading the charge with four catches for eighty-four yards and two touchdowns. Brandon Aiyuk also had two touchdowns. The 49er's defense was shut down, especially in the second half when they kept the Arizona's offence scoreless in the second half. The defense got three sacks and picked off Colt Mccoy twice! The 49ers will travel back home to host the New Orleans Saints in week 12.

Down and Out

Minnesota Vikings- This team did remember that last week's game against the Buffalo Bills wasn't the Superbowl correct? They knew they had to play another game, right? Well because they did not show up against the Dallas Cowboys! They lost 40-3, and everyone was not bad on this Viking team! Kirk Cousin completed twelve of his throws for 105 yards. Dalvin Cook carried the ball eleven times for seventy-two yards. And T.J. Hockenson had five catches for thirty-four yards, with him leading the team in reviving yards. All those players have in common... Zero touchdowns!! The defense was no better as they had no answer to stopping the Cowboy's offence. The Vikings look to turn the page to the awful game and look toward hosting the New England Patriots on Thursday for week 12.

New York Giants- The Giants took a game off. They looked past their opponent this week when they lost to the Detroit Lions 31-18. The offence didn't do too badly with Daniel Jones putting up 341 yards, one touchdown and two picks. He also led the team in rushing with seven carries for fifty yards and a touchdown. Jones played well. Wan’Dale Robinson had nine catches for a hundred yards. The oline gave up two sacks. The Giant's defense is where they failed. They had no answer to stopping the running game of the Detroit Lions when they had three players combine for 150 yards and four touchdowns. The Giants will have to lick their wound quickly as they have to have to take on the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day in week 12.

New York Jets- Something is brewing in the New York Jets locker room, and it could be bad! The Jets lost to the New England Patriots 10-3, on the back of a late punt return for the Patriots. The Jet's offensive was awful! Zach Wilson put up seventy-seven yards and rushed nine times for twenty-six yards. Denzel Mims had two catches for thirty-five yards. Yes, they played in a snowstorm but so did the other quarterback who threw for 246 yards. The Jet's defense played lights out racking up six sacks and keeping the team in it till the better end. The Jets have a Superbowl calibre defense and that's why the comments after the game by Zach Wilson struck some of the team the wrong way when he was asked if “the blame of this loss could be put on him and the offences?” His answer was “no.” the locker room is divided and hoping the Jets can move on from this and look for a win in week 12 when they host the Chicago Bears.
